We all sleep in privacy. In twelve different morning moods twelve people are portrayed as their undisguised and natural selves while asleep. One’s own sleep is considered a private realm that remains unknown to the self and lies beyond manipulation and control. The images of the sleepers bring us closer to that hidden moment. By placing the various portraits next to each other, a transformation of the privateness takes place. Having been pulled out of an originally protected and isolated context, suddenly the sleepers lie in a public space.
