»Pecorino« by Toni Anzenberger The first picture ever of Pecorino, a cross-breed, was taken accidentally. Nowadays, the white dog with his spots and black ears is the favourite model of his master. Pecorino confers onto the still life photos of Toni Anzenberger a distinctive note. With his camera, the Viennese photographer is looking at landscapes, architecture and art, in his own original way. Travel impressions of a very special nature.
The photos on display are funny and very creative, and the exhibition guides you through the countries and places which Pecorino has already visited: London, Paris as well as Provence, Tuscany, Sicily, Rome, Rimini and Capri, Vienna, Brussels, Spain and Slovenia. Actually the dog’s name should have been Scampolo. Since the male dog from a Veronese farmyard was the last of his litter, no one wanted to have the good tempered puppy, a cross between a Labrador and a sheep-dog. But Toni Anzenberger could not resist the trusting eyes of the tiny one with the spots. And since his new companion was very loving he called him Pecorino. Anzenberger was of the belief that that was the name of a little lamb. Having acquired a much better knowledge of the Italian language by now, he has realised that he has named his gentle dog after a spicy sheep’s cheese. But what to do with Pecorino, whilst Anzenberger had to go on his reporting missions? The photographer simply took the dog along. Over and over again he pressed the shutter button of his camera just as Pecorino was running through the picture. Due to these coincidences the trademark of his work was born – a charming story in pictures. And the most important thing about it is that no pressure whatsoever is put on Pecorino, he poses freely in front of the camera. As you can see: even amongst animals there exists a Claudia Schiffer. Since then the two of them continue to travel to the most beautiful places in Europe and reveal with their refreshing pictures surprising perspectives. This exhibition is a MUST for dog lovers! In addition to the exhibition there are seven books available, six are published by the Ars Vivendi in Germany, one is published by Styria Verlag, Austria. Every year a wall calendar is published by ars vivendi. Also available is a post card book and many different single post cards. > pictures |
